a whirlwind trip out of london

after we put down our stuff, we went in search of the tower bridge, which we didn't manage to see last time we were in london. off we hopped at tower hill, and right in front of us was the sun clock. gigantic!

right across the road was the tower hill. it looked really grand.

but my favourite is still the tower bridge. couldn't get enough of it. it looked so pretty! thank god we had nice sunny weather too.

we did go to london bridge, but it was such a disappointment. the bridge was just a flat slab of cement. even the sign 'london bridge' had a beggar hunching beside it. sigh..

dinner was at four seasons at chinatown. we had heard how famous it was, but didn't purposely walk around in search of the restaurant. it just happened on us. guess it was fated that we eat there.

we ordered the peking set for 2. plus desert. my, were we an adventurous duo. anyways, we almost died eating. even the lengzai waiter kept walking around to see how much we could finish. the food was nice though. i especially lurvved the crispy aromatic duck. simply heavenly.

even the starter, hot and spicy soup, was really delicious! i still like regent's red bean desert though. this one is too soft, not crispy enough.

OUT OF LONDON TOUR

our first stop was to windsor, the queen's other palace. it was really pretty inside, with my favourite being the rooms decorated with firearms. really spectacular. pity no photography was allowed though. we found it quite a rush though, since we were only given 2 hours, which included the queing time, toilet time, and time to visit the doll house, windsor castle and the chapel. it was so not enough. we didn't even have time to look around outside. i wonder how people manage to get their lunches under such time constraints. but anyways, the place was really a wonder to behold, however short our time there was.

the queen was there, signified by the flag raised on top.

you can just about see a lil' of our tour guide's face up here.

we practically ran back to the bus to make it on time. the others didn't seem to care, with the people trickling up onto the bus. after 15 minutes, our tour guide had enough of waiting. we were going, it seems. despite one man's begging that they wait a while more for 2 more people she did not relent. in fact, it turned out into quite a major row, with her threatening to call the cops. needless to say, i guess the man and his two late friends took the train home.

after windsor, we went to the beautiful town of bath where all the buildings were built from slate. dam nice lo. we even saw some superstar's house at the crescent. it was really a beautiful place, and we haven't even stepped down from the bus.

just before time was up, we managed to gobble up some ice cream, one of the nicest and cheapest i've had so far. 1 pound for a huge dollop, with chunks of chocolate in it. when we boarded the bus finally right on time, we were, to my supreme amazement, the last on board! fear does work wonders indeed.

our last stop in the tour was to stonehenge.. finally i get to see the sun clock!

as you can see, we jump everywhere. serious.

after the tour officially ended and fiona went back to her family, yi lyn and i went for another round of 'sets for 2'. we never learn, it seems.. my favourite?? the corn soup!!

it was another bloated dinner, but at least this time we managed to finish up most of the food, except for some of the fried rice. and were we bloated beyond bloated.

our whirlwind out of london ended all too abruptly. and soon it was time to go back to glasgow. i can't say i didn't feel relieved. in fact, i was freakin looking forward to slugging at my room. hence ended my tours with my mates. nvm, we'll meet again in our north and south malaysian tour! till then then.=]
