can you keep a secret?

i think this time Sophie Kinsella really overdid herself. i think it was as good as or even better than Undomestic Goddess. that's coz i can't really remember how good Undomestic Goddess was already. haha.. Can You Keep A Secret is hilarious, entertaining, keeps you laughing all the time whilst there's some very sweet romance interspersed.

the story is about Emma, who spills all her secrets accidentally to this stranger on the plane. this guy turns out to be the founder of her company, who apparently remembers every single thing she blurted out to him... and who by the way is incredibly cute. and so the story goes...

i would highly recommend sophie kinsella's undomestic goddess and can you keep a secret. enjoy! ^^

the secret

it borders on atheist beliefs, but i still find that there are things to learn and apply into our lives.

the secret talks about the Laws of Attraction where everything is made up from energy, and you attract energy to you based on your feelings and thoughts. basically, this is what i got from the 1.5 hr movie:

> focus on what you want, not what you do not want.

> you are the masterpiece of your own mind.

> what you focus on (thoughts, feeling) is what will be attracted to you. you create your own universe as you go along.

> all that we are is the result of what we have thought. be grateful. visualise. the 'feeling' is the secret, not just positive thinking. 'feel' what you want. feel good.

> imagination is the preview of life's coming attraction.

> decide on what you want, believe it is possible for you. visualise having it, feel it, then be grateful for what you already have.

> you can't expect others to enjoy your own company if you don't enjoy your own company. treat yourself the way you want others to treat you. you are the solution to you! love yourself. have a healthy respect for yourself.

> laughter really is the best medicine!

> men becomes what he thinks about. focus on what you want, not what you don't want.

> whether you think you can or you can't, either way you are right – Henry Ford.

Welcome to planet earth. There is nothing you cannot be. Decide on what you want, then focus upon it. For it is through focusing upon it that you will attract it.

Feel good!^^

first 3 weeks fermenting at home~

1. I read the book ‘the undomestic goddess’ by sophie Kinsella finally. It’s really very funny and easy reading. I remember laughing all the way through it. Well, k la, not all the way, but most of the time. The author says things so funny. Her wit is simply amazing. I support the farm boy! Haha.. before that, I also read ‘final friends’ by Christopher pike. And what I have of the last vampire. i read the 3rd book, which has a cliff-hanging ending. What the!! And I don’t have the 4th and 5th book. Can’t find it anywhere. I think the publisher stopped supplying it, dunno why. In times like this I really miss my ex-royal classmate. Haha.. sorry dude.

2. Of course, I watched a lot of shows collected in my laptop. A great way to pass time.

>> 飞越彩虹 – a show with a lot of hip-hop dancing. That’s what I like most about it. Not to mention some great songs and lengzai actors. Haha..

the two heroes of the show~

>> heroes – really intriguing. Once you start, I don’t think it will be easy to put it aside. Coz you keep wanting to know what happens next.

>> Bleach! – this is simply great!!! Abarai renji!! So yieng. Haha.. but I still hope Rukia can go with Ichigo, coz the way they argue with each other is so funny. I also like Yachiru, a very cute and adorable lieutenant. She was so cute and so hopeless in directions that I began to wonder how come she could become a lieutenant. Then, one day someone pissed her off when she was watching her captain duel with Ichigo. Wow… then only they showed her power.;p

ichigo and rukia

renji and rukia

yachiru getting mad~

>> 我的外母不是人 – find it soso.. I like the girl actress playing the goddess. Very sweet. But personally, hong kong shows has never been able to capture my attention for long.

>> my boss my hero – this is really hilarious.. haha.. kept me laughing in fits. The first time I watched a show which I don’t think the hero as good looking. ;p

>> 地下铁 – this is one show which I only watched due to the appearance of lengzai 霍建华 (I thought was郭品超) and lenglui 林心如. But it has a sad ending. Haih.. how come the hero always dies?! Don’t you think both guys look alike?? I almost got confused between the two.

3. went to one utama and ikea with my family. Tried the well-known curry puff in ikea. Find it so-so only. The stressful part was being the guide for my mum with my dad sitting behind. Sometimes it was so hard to get into the correct lane which led to the correct place. To go to ikea, we had to make 3 rounds. 1 due to overshooting the junction, one due to being on the wrong lane (a small side lane leading to one utama), and 1 being on the wrong lane leading to the tunnel and overshooting ikea. We almost went to puchong on our way back too. wow.. I never wanna drive there myself.

4. went shopping in midvalley (with mom), mines (with kee san and chee kian), terminal 1 (with kee san), and times square (with Fiona). Burned a hole in my pocket with stuff that, upon reaching home, made me wonder what I saw in them in the first place. Went handphone shopping with kee san too in terminal. It’s ok, I still love my phone. ;p

5. I managed to clear my computer of some junk and rearrange everything. Clearing a few GBs just by deleting repeated sources of the same song I have in my laptop.

6. listened to a few discs of the cultural mandate. Can’t find the mood to listen to it actually. So many more things I could do during my hols. Like rewatch bleach! Haha..

7. managed to find what I have looking high and low for for next year’s gift to a close friend. And quite happy with that. Hehe..

8. cooked a lot of porridge.haha.. ‘煲粥’ especially before local uni’s exam period began. After that, no time (them), no money (me).;p

9. started planning our next gathering. But so hard to find a common time that we can meet. Don’t wanna leave out anyone. But when??! I really don’t know..

10. made sushi together with my kakak. Went online to research de le. hee.. my favourite? Vegetarian sushi. It’s sweet, since it contains sweet potato. I also watched the making of ‘achak’, the recipe descended from my maternal granma.

on the left- tiramisu desert. middle- sushi. right-pizza (from pizza hut)

11. my paternal grandma got sick. And I realized how hard counseling can be, especially for old people. OMG.. how are we supposed to do that professionally and effectively next time to our patients? We won’t even know if they will practice what we teach.

12. went for Korean food at Restoran Korea with my mom and brother. Very expensive oh!! I almost pengsan when I saw the menu. But suddenly, so many small dishes appeared alongside what we ordered. I guess that’s how Koreans eat. The main dish is already so big! Most filling..

the main dish

the tiny dishes which mushroomed out unexpectedly

13. had some seriously sweet and happy moments too. (^.^”) and also sticking to a more consistent regime health-wise. Things are not always as bad as I think. I find things happier and smoother when I have a more positive and less whiney attitude. =]

Who moved my cheese???

A remarkable book by Dr Spencer Johnson full of insight and a different perspective of life altogether.

# # #

I learnt that….

Sometimes things change and they are never the same again. That’s life. Life moves on, we should too.

We must finally be able to laugh at ourselves and what we have been doing wrong, let go and move on.

When we are afraid things are going to get worse if we don’t do something, it can prompt us into action. But if we are too afraid to do anything, that is not good.

The sooner we get out of our comfort zone and adapt to change, the easier things become. But, better late than never.

However uncomfortable the search for cheese may be, at least it is better than staying in the cheeseless situation. Take control, rather than let things happen to us.

Let go and trust what lies ahead for us, even though we do not know exactly what it is. Don’t be held captive by our own fear.

Don’t always think that change will lead to something worse. Change can lead to something better too!

What you are afraid of is never as bad as what you imagine. The fear you build up in your mind is worse than the situation that actually exists.

When you change what you believe, you change what you do. You can believe that a change will harm you and resist it. Or you can believe that finding new cheese will help you and embrace the change.

There is always new cheese out there whether you recognize it at that time or not. You will be rewarded with it when you go past your fear and enjoy the adventure.

I found my cheese, I thought I would last forever, but it didn’t. When my cheese was moved, I became depressed, sad, I just froze there, like Hem and Haw. However I want to be like Haw instead of Hem. I’ve run through the maze before, I can do it again in search of new and better cheese.

‘Life is no straight and easy corridor along which we travel free and unhampered, but a maze of passages, through which we must seek our way, lost and confused, now and again checked in a blind alley.

But always, if we have faith, a door will open for us, not perhaps one that we ourselves would ever have thought of, but one that will ultimately prove good for us.’

A.J. Cronin

men are from mars.. women are from venus..

i bought the book some time ago, read it halfway, then forgot about it...
recently i picked it up again. it is really good y'know. half the time i feel like the book is talking about me. it's like, hey! that's me!
it's good somehow, unravels some of the mind-boogling facts about guys..
now i just have to believe it and react accordingly. hmmm... takes practice though..
